6 Steps to Remove Resistance From Manifestation

Do you find yourself feeling frustrated when you try to manifest your desires and nothing happens? It seems like there is an invisible, outside force that pushes against us and deflects our desires, but actually the resistance comes from within.

To remove resistance from manifestation you must look within to understand why you are blocking your desires. You have to take back your power by changing old disempowering beliefs and releasing attachment to the outcome. Then you create trust in the manifestation process by taking inspired action and finding evidence of what you have already manifested.

Most people, including myself at some points, struggle with manifesting what they want in life. It feels like there are so many obstacles that are impossible to overcome.

Many people believe that manifestation is a mystical process that we can’t control, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Contrary to popular belief, we do have the power to manifest more of what we do want and less of what we don’t, it just takes some inner work.

While there are absolutely things in the world that get in the way and slow us down, the biggest obstacles exist in our minds.

It is the doubt, fear, and feelings of being unworthy or not good enough that stops us from really being open to what we want. When you’re afraid your manifestation won’t show up, it’s a sign that you are resisting it.

Is it normal to have doubts about manifestation?

It’s completely normal to have doubts about manifestation and the law of attraction. Sometimes our dreams are so big that along with the excitement comes some fear, which can get in the way of your desire showing up. Momentary doubts are to be expected.

What you have to look out for is the constant state of doubt and fear, because that will sabotage your manifestation. Fear lowers your vibration and takes you out of alignment with what you desire.

How to Remove Resistance from Manifestation

1. Recognize the signs of resistance.

The key to overcoming resistance with the Law of Attraction is to be aware of and eliminate the resistance as much as possible. This sounds really obvious, but most people are acting on their resistance without even realizing it, and if you don’t know you have it then you can’t change it.

When you’re afraid that what you want won’t manifest, then that’s a clue that you need to investigate what’s going on in your subconscious mind. If you have a belief deep down that says “this isn’t possible for me,” then you won’t be able to manifest it until you clear that belief.

Here are some clear signs you have resistance to your manifestation:

  • Just thinking about your dreams and desires fills you with fear or sadness.
  • You constantly worry about your manifestation not showing up.
  • You think the Law of Attraction works for everyone but you.
  • When you see other people successfully manifest things you’re full of envy.
  • You feel desperate for what you want.
  • You need to know exactly how and when it will get here.
  • You have a lot of excuses for why it’s not possible for you.

2. Find the root cause for your resistance

In order to release resistance when manifesting, take some time to reflect on your current situation and find out what created it and what beliefs need to be changed.

Answer these journal prompts to help you get to the root of your resistance.

  • What am I afraid would happen if this DID show up? How would people react and treat me?
  • How is my fear of this happening protecting me?
  • How does my desire or goal not happening fulfill my beliefs?
  • If there was a reason this couldn’t happen, what would that be? What is the reason behind that answer? What about the next answer? (Keep going until you get to the core reason)

Hear are a few ways resistance might show up:

You want to manifest greater wealth, but you have a belief that money makes people greedy because your dad said “rich people are greedy” at the dinner table so often. If you became wealthy, your family might reject you so you resist making more money.

You want to manifest a loving partner, but you deeply fear sabotaging the relationship like you saw your parents do when you were a child and so you resist finding the right person. Your fear and resistance protects you from being vulnerable.

You want to manifest your dream career, but as a kid someone told you that you weren’t smart or talented enough and a part of you believed them. So you don’t bother applying to the job even though you are just as qualified as anyone else.

As you can see, many of our past beliefs about how life is supposed to be eventually manifest in the physical world through our actions. Because there is a delay between your inner state manifesting in your outer world, that means your current reality is just a projection of your past beliefs. When you change your beliefs in the present, then your future will eventually change too.

After you realize what these beliefs are it’s time to change them so you let go of the resistance, I have a whole post about how to heal limiting beliefs that will help.

3. Acknowledge and honor the feelings associated with your resistance, but don’t give them power

When you dive into your subconscious beliefs about why you’re resisting your manifestation you’ll find that many of them are illogical. This is because they were formed from experiences in your childhood or events that created strong emotional reactions, and you weren’t able to apply logic or life experience to the situation so you formed these disempowering beliefs.

We must take responsibility for the way we feel and our beliefs because it determines our actions in life. When we look for the truth behind our feelings it allows us to manifest with intention instead of from the old beliefs that had us acting on autopilot.

However, this doesn’t mean we become angry at ourselves for having these beliefs. Instead we must love and accept that part of us while giving power back to our higher self who knows how to guide us to what we want without fear.

This does not mean that there will never be any resistance to our desires. It simply means that you can acknowledge the resistance and honor where it came from, but see that it doesn’t serve you and stop letting it drive the car.

4. Give up attachment to the outcome of your manifestation

This can be easier said than done, but an important step in clearing resistance in the law of attraction to detach from your expectations.

To release attachment to the outcome of your manifestation you must focus on the present moment and acknowledge all the good things you already have. You don’t know what the future will hold until you get there, so all you can do is appreciate what you have now and figure out what you can do today to create the future you want.

Having a daily gratitude practice helps so much, but the next two steps will help you with this too and I have a meditation to help you at the end of this post.

5. Identify what you can do to move forward

There are many people who would like to believe that they only need to think positive thoughts and visualize their dreams coming true and it will all happen, but this simply isn’t true. Manifestation also requires you to take action to help create what you want.

If you can find one small step to take each day to get you closer to what you want to manifest, you’re going to feel so empowered and gain more certainty that your manifestation is meant for you. This will help you release the resistance and attract what you want so much faster.

People often make the mistake of expecting their desire to show up out of nowhere on a silver platter. When it doesn’t magically appear they start to lose faith and give up on their manifestation.

The truth is that there is usually a string of many small steps that lead up to the results you want and you have to be patience and persistent enough keep taking those steps every day.

6. Gather evidence of past manifestations

We’re already established that fear and doubt create resistance, so to manifest something you must believe it’s possible for you. This can be hard to do until you realize that you’ve already manifested in the past, you just didn’t realize it.

Take some time to write down all the times you wanted something in the past and it happened. They don’t have to just be big life changing events, the small things count too.

Your list could look something like this:

I needed money for gas and my dad randomly gave me $50 without me even mentioning it.
I wasn’t sure I’d pass an exam but a friend offered to study with me and I aced it.
I decided I was ready to be in a loving relationship and I met my partner the next week.
I felt like I was ready to move up in my company and my boss suddenly promoted me.
I was craving coffee and my friend showed up with one for me.
I wanted to lose 10 pounds, and after committing to my workouts and eating healthy for 3 months I got to my goal weight.

When you get past the fear and start realizing that you have already manifested good things in the past you might even find some signs that your manifestation is close.

Affirmations to Release Resistance to Your Manifestation

You can use these affirmations to start reprogramming your subconscious mind with new empowering beliefs to counteract the ones creating resistance.

  1. I am willing to believe that I can manifest …
  2. I am opening to the possibility that I can have …
  3. I am open and ready to receive …, for the highest good of all involved.
  4. I am always worthy of my desires and I release all resistance to them.
  5. I send love and peace to the part of me that is afraid of my desire. It is safe for me to receive …
  6. I allow … to flow into my life now with ease and grace.
  7. I don’t know how, but I am manifesting … and it feels amazing to receive it.
  8. I’ve decided that I AM worthy of receiving … because I am the creator of my life.
  9. I release and heal all beliefs that block my desires.
  10. I choose to trust that my desires are meant for me.

Meditation to Release Resistance From the Law of Attraction

This is a really quick and easy practice for releasing attachment to the outcome of your manifestation. Any time you know you need to let go of resistance do this meditation.
