A new moon symbolizes a new beginning. It is a time to center yourself and set intentions for what you want to bring into your life.

There are many ways to use the law of attraction, but new moon manifesting rituals are a powerful method that channels the energy of the moon to aid you in getting the things you want.

To manifest on a new moon you first set your intentions for what you want to receive during the lunar cycle, then you anchor your intention to a ritual or object, and finally feel deep gratitude that the Universe is working to fulfill your manifestation.

The Magic of the Moon Cycle

Every lunar cycle lasts about 29 days and there are 4 phases of the moon: new moon, waxing moon, full moon, and waning moon.

Each phase of the moon has it’s own significance and power.

The new moon is a time for setting intentions and planting seeds for what you want to create.

In the time between the new moon and full moon, the waxing phase, energy starts to build up as more of the moon is lit up each night. This is the time to focus on what inspired actions you can take to put you on the path to manifesting your desire.

On the full moon this energy has reached it’s peak, so you can channel it into manifesting what you want and reflect on anything that needs to be released to make space for your manifestation. Learn how to manifest with full moon rituals.

As the moon moves into the waning period that energy is released so that your desires can come into fruition. At this point you open yourself up to receiving either the thing you want, or further guidance on how to get it.

Why New Moon Rituals Help to Manifest Your Desires

You can set intentions at any time you like, but the benefit of manifesting with the new moon is that because it’s the first day of a new lunar cycle, as that energy builds up to the full moon you can use it to build up momentum to the fulfillment of your own goals.

Creating a new moon ritual at this time creates a space for you to gain clarity about what you need and it allows you to focus your intention and energy towards attracting it.

The new moon brings the opportunity to clear your mind, focus on your desires, and lay out a plan for how you want to achieve them.

If you’re a beginner to new moon rituals, I suggest the first two rituals, creating a sacred space and setting intentions, and then adding one or two of the other rituals that sounds good to you. It doesn’t have to be a long elaborate event, your new moon practice can be as simple as you like. Follow your intuition.

But first you might want to do some reflecting on what is and isn’t working in your life so that you know where you need to direct your attention and energy. The following journal prompts will give you some clarity.

New Moon Journal Prompts

  1. What lights me up now and how can I add more of it to my life?
  2. What energy do I want to invite into my life during this lunar cycle?
  3. How can I take care of my mental, physical, and spiritual needs?
  4. What do I want less of?
  5. What beliefs, behaviors, or relationships do I need to release?
  6. Taking full responsibility for my life, what excuses do I make for why I don’t have what I want? Why are these excuses not true? What do I need to do now to correct this?
  7. What actions have I been procrastinating that would help me make progress on my goals? Why have I been avoiding them? What will I commit to doing during this lunar cycle?
  8. Have my thoughts and beliefs been in alignment with the version of me I want to be? What would the happiest and most successful version of me believe about themselves?
  9. Are my actions aligned with the life I want to live? Why or why not?
  10. What is one small daily action I can take to be a better version of me?

New Moon Rituals for Manifesting

1. Create a Sacred Space

It’s important to do these rituals someplace quiet and peaceful, so the first thing to do is to create a sacred space. It can just be a corner of your bedroom or any space that will be just yours for a little while.

If you need to, tidy up the space first. Remove any distractions and put your phone away. You shouldn’t be thinking, “wow I need to vacuum the floor,” at this time so take care of anything like that first.

Then set the mood with candles or string lights, make it feel a little magical and mystical in your space. Put on some music you like that won’t be too distracting while you’re setting your intentions in the next part.

2. Set New Moon Intentions

After you’ve gone someplace quiet and peaceful, it’s time to write down your intentions for the lunar cycle.

The new moon is almost like a new year in the sense that you get an energetic blank slate. You can make a commitment to be or create anything you want.

Ask yourself, “what do I want to manifest during this period?”

  1. Be specific about your desires.
  2. Decide what you need to release.
  3. Focus on the feeling of receiving the manifestation, not the lack of it.

Here are some examples of new moon intentions:

“I want to manifest more happiness into my life. I will do this by staying present in the moment and not worrying about things I can’t control so much.”

“I want to manifest greater wealth. I will work on releasing my money blocks and looking for more opportunities to receive abundance.”

“I want to manifest a loving relationship. I will work on releasing the patterns I learned from my parent’s toxic relationship so that I attract the right kind of person.”

3. Anchor Your Desire to a Candle

Once you’ve decided on your intention, you can anchor it to a candle. Some recommend leaving the candle lit until it burns out, but that may not be safe or practical.

Instead you can send a message to your mind that when you light this candle you are shifting your energy into alignment with what you want. Then whenever you light that candle during the moon cycle your subconscious starts working on how to manifest your desire.

To anchor your intention to a candle, light it and state your intention out loud. Spend a few quiet moments focused on the flame and just breathe.

When you’re ready you can blow out the candle, and the next time you light it you can think of your intention and focus on how good it feels to receive your desire.

4. Anchor Your Desire to a Crystal

You can anchor your desire to a crystal just like you would a candle. It doesn’t matter what kind of crystal you use, just pick something you love. You can even use a pretty rock from your backyard.

Hold the crystal in your hand and say your intention, then close your eyes and breathe. Feel the crystal in your hand and imagine the energy of your intention flowing into the crystal.

Make a mental note that whenever you see the crystal you are automatically shifting into alignment with your desire. You can even hold the crystal each morning or night during the moon cycle and visualize how exciting it will feel to have received your desire.

5. Draw a Tarot Card

Pulling a tarot or oracle card is a great way to get insight on how to bring your intention to life.

Some questions for your new moon tarot spread are:

  1. What seeds do I need to plant now?
  2. How can I be in alignment with my intentions?
  3. What will guide me to the fulfillment of my desires?

6. Take a Moon Bath

A moon bath or shower ritual is a great way to center yourself and wash away any distractions, doubts, or old energy that isn’t serving you. You can even use the bath as your sacred space for this new moon.

You can use any bath products you like and maybe even fresh flower petals. Etsy has some great full moon bath salts. Light some candles, put on some nice music, and just relax.

Afterwards put on whatever skincare products you like and wear anything that makes you feel good.

7. Meditate

Now is a great time to get some guidance from your Higher Self on what you need to do to manifest your desires. This meditation will help you tune into that connection and receive guidance on what actions to take next.

You can even do your meditation while you’re taking a moon bath.

8. Say thank you

All you have to do in this ritual is write down all the things you have right now that you’re grateful for.

Then write down the things you want to manifest as if you already have them. I like to write “I am so deeply thankful I have…”

Even more important that writing it all down is feeling gratitude. Manifestation is about tapping into the feeling of already having what you want, this shifts your vibration.

9. Create Affirmations for the Lunar Cycle

Finally, a great way to finish off your ritual is to choose a few affirmations to repeat daily. Your affirmations will help program your mind to be receptive to what you want and to look for ways to create and receive it.

Choose whatever fits your intention, your new moon affirmations might look something like this:

  1. I invite the Universe to help me manifest my desires.
  2. I invite happiness and success into my life now.
  3. I allow my intuition to guide me to the right path.
  4. I am owning my power as the creator of my life.
  5. It is safe for me to transform into my highest self.
  6. I embrace this new beginning.
  7. I am planting the seeds of success and abundance.
  8. I trust that I am supported by the Universe.
  9. I am worthy of my desire and it is on it’s way to me now.
  10. I am aligned with the energy of my desires.
  11. I am taking action to be a co-creator with the Universe.

  1. I’m so glad I came about this post. I enjoyed reading about New Moon Rituals and think I will put some of these into practice tonight as I embark on a new direction in my life. I’m thinking a mindful cleansing shower, gentle yoga, lighted candle and inscents while writing my intentions and expressing gratitude and ending with a affirmation meditation or moment of silence.
